County Clerk

Greetings and welcome to the County Clerk's office website. The goal of the website is to embrace technology. Please remember, you are always welcome to come in personally or contact the office by phone.

In my 7th term in office, I want to thank you for allowing me to maintain your records. Serving as your County Clerk for 27 years is an honor.

Responsibilities

The County Clerk's office is responsible for keeping your records. I sincerely appreciate your trust in maintaining the records from sovereignty to infinity.

I created my office mission statement in 1995 in an acronym - F.A.C.E.S.:

  • Friendly
  • Accurate
  • Courteous
  • Efficient
  • Service

Records

As you view all the departments of my office, you will find that the records kept here hold people's entire lives. They include vital records (birth, death, and marriage); property records; and court records (misdemeanor criminal, civil cases up to $200,000, and probate). Some records you may not know are recorded with the County Clerk include livestock brands and assumed name certificates (also known as a D.B.A. for doing business as).

Also, one of my official duties is to serve as the Ex-officio clerk of the Commissioners' Court, recording the minutes of the Court's activities.

General Information

My office is proud to be the go-to for general information if someone is not sure who to call or where to go. It is always a pleasure to provide guidance for all types of questions in order to route the customer to the proper place or office. My staff is professionally trained in customer service to treat customers with respect and dignity in whatever situation of life they may be involved in at that time.

Finally, let me share my personal mantra adopted in 1990:
Courage is fear that has said its prayers. ~Dorothy Bernard

Truly,
Sherry
