Drug Arrest Made on Two Boyd Residents

             The Wise County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Boyd Police Department in executing a search warrant at a residence on Smith Road, in Boyd. On November 19, 2007 the Boyd Police Department officers, while executing a felony arrest warrant at the residence, observed drug paraphernalia at the residence.

         Officers secured the residence and called for assistance from the Wise County narcotics officers. A search warrant was requested and executed at the residence and numerous items were found in the residence. The two men who stated they lived at the residence, Michael J. Barnett, 24, of Boyd and Dustin C Mayhue, 25, also of Boyd, will have felony charges filed on them.

            While searching a bathroom in the residence, officers found a metal smoking pipe and four empty plastic baggies next to the toilet. The narcotics officer lifted the toilet seat and saw a crystal like substance (suspected methamphetamine) in the bottom of the toilet. There was a small plastic bag floating in the toilet. The liquid was removed from the toilet along with the crystal like substance (suspected methamphetamines) and placed it into a glass container.

             The search of the residence resulted in locating syringes, two plastic containers containing a clear liquid (suspected anabolic steroids), a glass smoking bong, numerous plastic bags and a container that had a green leafy substance (suspected marijuana) in it.       

      The narcotics officers ran field test on the substances that were located at the residence and all presented a positive reaction to the test. Michael Barnett was arrested on un-related charge. 

Michael Barnett will have four charges total, including two charges of possession of a controlled substance under 400 grams and the second possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams but less than 400grams.

 Dustin Mayhue will have two charges total, the first charge is possession of a controlled substance400grams and the second, possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams but less than 200 grams.
